Hello dear friends and supporters,
today we feel like writing in English, so we'll do it in this language today, but don't ask us why... :-)
When you speak several languages they mean different things to you. Your mother tongue is your home and it means the confidence, the feeling of being oneself somehow. When you are born bilingual like most of the catalans, or trilingual (some catalans are -for instance, those whose mum or dad are from a foreign country-), your second or third language is just part of yourself, like your right arm and hand are.
The languages you had the luck to learn at school at an early age, these ones connect you with your own past and childhood, and you cannot get rid of them for life if you learnt them properly and you keep on using them from time to time along the years. They are your best friends.
Other languages you learn them because you know you are good at languages and they are easy to you. That is for instance Italian or French, for a Catalan speaker they are an easy issue. As German is easy to the Dutch for instance, or the other way around. This languages are wonderful tools or maybe even hobbys you appreciate enormously.
Then there is another category of languages, the ones that you learn because you want to learn them, because one day you woke up and you chose to learn them: this is love at first sight. You fall in love with the language, you must learn it and it becomes your partner for life.
There are other languages... the ones you must learn for your job, the ones you wish to learn because you travel to a remote country to cooperate, those you learn because you get engaged with someone from a foreign country... the language of the deaf persons...
And still there is another very special kind of language, that is the animal language!!! Dogs speak dogish, pigs speak pigish, cats catish... I think all of these languages of mother Nature are sooo amazing! Can you speak them?! Sure you do!
Have you ever spoken to plants? Sure many of you have!!
Sometimes I need to comunicate in English, the language I learnt as a child and a teenager because my parents forced me to do it, and today I had the need to use it. To tell you we are alive, to tell you that in this whole month without news from us everything has gone on as usually, and that we had good friends from Germany visiting us to help in the shelter. We also had new dogs and cats coming in, of course! and we are looking forward to introducing them to you as soon as possible. All of them are so cute, even the oldest ones, or the most ill ones, all of them are welcome with us, thanks to YOU!
We also remembered that on the 03.05.2003 we first "landed" in our shelter!!! Yuhuuuuuuuuu!!!! Still trying to fix some innocent lives after so many years fills us with great joy and pride!
THE DAYS GO BY, WE LIVE AND WORK HARD AND EVERYDAY WE THINK OF YOU IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. TO EVERY SOUL WHO SUPPORTS OUR WORK, WITHOUT EVEN A POST FROM US, NO NEWSLETTER, NO FOTOS... IN THE ERA OF FACEBOOK, OF THE GO-PROS, OF INSTAGRAM... YOU MUST THINK WE ARE SILLY NOT TO USE THEM... BUT WE CAN'T WORK FASTER AND CANNOT COMUNICATE FASTER.
Every day we would tell you how much you mean to us. All of you who in the last months have sent us kitten food, dog's coats for the winter, toys for the puppys, food for the dogs, chocolate for the shelter's team (hahaha!), money into our account without even having come and see us.
A toast to all of YOU who trust us in any language possible...
IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE GOOD HEARTS!
Have a nice Sunday evening :-)
Yours,
Guau & Miau
PS: you understand what I mean!
